Shivansh Garg Review: 12 Months Inside 100x Engine
Twelve months is long enough to stop being impressed and start being accurate.
I want to write this while both are still true. I am past the first three months where everything feels like a revelation, and past month six where the novelty wears off and you notice what does not work. I have seen enough to have opinions that are not just enthusiasm.
Quick context: I run a practice in healthcare. Fourteen years. I am not a creator, I have no natural instinct for this, and I nearly did not join 100x Engine at Imperfect Labs.
Before I Say Anything Good, Here Is What Made Me Hesitate
I want to lead with this because most reviews bury it.
The price stopped me for three weeks. Rs 5.5 lakh for a year of 100x Engine is real money (roughly INR 46k/mo) and I sat on the decision far longer than I usually do. I am comfortable making financial calls in my own field and completely uncomfortable making them in one I know nothing about.
I could not verify anything independently. Every 100x Engine review I found was from someone inside the program. Every result was posted by a member. There was no neutral third party telling me this worked. That bothered me and it should bother anyone doing this research, including with what you are reading right now.
I did not believe an expert could be taught to make content. I assumed the people succeeding at this were naturals and I was not one. I still half believe this, which I will come back to.
Two colleagues told me not to. Not aggressively. Just the tone that implies a serious professional does not do this. I cared more than I expected to.
I joined anyway. Here is what happened.
Who Shivansh Garg Is, Verified as Far as I Could

Shivansh Garg, founder of Imperfect Labs
The background is unusual and it was the main reason I took the program seriously.
He was a growth head at Uber and Aditya Birla. His work was acquiring users at scale for large products. He is a statistician by training. This is not a content person who backed into business. It is a systems person who applied that thinking to a platform everyone else treats as a mystery.
In 2022 he posted fifty reels on his own account and hit 150,000 followers in three months without paid ads.
He built Imperfect University into what became India’s largest content school. Over 20,000 paid students, more than 40 million followers generated across that community.
Then in December 2024 he closed it publicly and wrote at length about why scaling it further would stop serving the people inside it. He rebuilt as Imperfect Labs, and 100x Engine is the single program that came out of that reset.
That letter is what made me apply. Not the growth numbers. Anyone can grow. Closing a profitable business and explaining honestly why tells you something about how a person weighs decisions, and I was about to hand that person a significant amount of money.
What Working With Him Is Actually Like
Here is where most reviews go vague. I will be specific about what a year inside 100x Engine actually involves.
Happy Hour is 18 sessions across the year. No agenda. You show up, ask what is on your mind, sometimes with a drink. It genuinely feels less like coaching and more like a good school where the teacher happens to be interesting.
The value is not in a curriculum. It is that you can bring a half-formed problem and get it taken apart properly. I brought questions that had nothing to do with Instagram at various points and they were the more useful sessions.
The Blue Ocean Strategy work inside 100x Engine runs all year. I got this wrong going in. I assumed it was a niche-picking exercise at the start, done in one call.
It kept coming back. Every few weeks Shivansh or someone from the team would ask a question that shifted my positioning slightly. What is your audience actually responding to. Why did that one work. Is this still the right lane now that you have data.
My starting angle was generic health content. Where I ended up was narrow, specific, and genuinely mine. I could not have found it alone, and I could not have found it in one session either, because the answer depended on data I did not have yet in month one.
He is direct in a way that took adjusting to. The feedback I remember most was not gentle. My content was medically accurate and emotionally flat. My hooks described what the video was about instead of creating a reason to watch. My content was consistent and safe, and safe does not grow.
None of that was pleasant to hear. All of it was correct.
What I Actually Changed and What Happened
The single biggest shift came in month two.
I had been entering every topic as a professional explaining something downward to an audience. Shivansh kept pushing me to start from a shared frustration and bring the expertise in afterward. The audience needs to feel you are on their side before they care what you know.
Simple to state. It took me weeks to actually do. These are my numbers across the first year of 100x Engine.
| Month | Followers |
|---|---|
| Start | 410 |
| Month 3 | 5,600 |
| Month 6 | 14,800 |
| Month 12 | 19,400 |
Month one was flat and I was unhappy about it. Nine posts, nothing above 2,000 views.
Month two a video about something people in my field watch patients get wrong constantly crossed 34,000 views. Nothing before it had crossed 3,000. The topic was not new. The entry point was.
The Sanket Sessions Deserve Separate Mention
This is not strictly a review of Shivansh, but leaving it out would misrepresent the program.
Sanket runs a live Viral Hour every week. He is behind over 1 billion organic views and Rs 25 crore in revenue across the brands he has worked on.
I skipped the first three. That was a mistake and I would tell anyone joining not to repeat it. The insights in these are genuinely game changing and they are the most immediately usable thing in the 100x Engine.
Three things I took from them that changed my output:
- Content people share and content people save behave completely differently. Saves drive distribution far longer. Almost everything I was making was built for sharing.
- The first three seconds determine whether anything else in the video matters. I was allocating my effort almost entirely to the wrong part.
- Formats go stale in months. A course recorded last year is teaching last year’s platform.
The Honest Downsides
Specific to my situation, because generic complaints are useless.
The camera took six weeks. I speak to people for a living and assumed this would be easy. It was not. I watched my own footage and winced repeatedly before something loosened.
Confidentiality was constant background work. Every single piece of content had to be checked so that no patient situation was identifiable. Nobody at Imperfect Labs could help with this. It is specific to healthcare and it slowed me down badly in the early months.
The pace assumes bandwidth. There were weeks where posting cost me an hour of sleep. I posted anyway. That is not indefinitely sustainable.
Comparison inside the community stung. Watching a founder with a flexible calendar triple my growth was not the motivation people claim it is. It just felt bad for a few weeks.
He is not always available. The 18 Happy Hour sessions are generous but they are 18. There were moments I wanted a fast answer from him specifically and got it from a consultant instead. The consultants are good. It is still not the same thing.
The Question I Get Asked Most
People ask whether he actually shows up or whether it is a team wearing his name.
He shows up. That was the thing I was most sceptical about going in, because it is the standard failure mode of programs at this price point. Founder sells it, team delivers it.
The Happy Hour sessions are him. The Blue Ocean work is him and the team together. The day to day support is consultants, which is appropriate and Shivansh at Imperfect Labs is upfront about.
If you are paying specifically for founder access, you are getting founder access. Just calibrate it to 18 sessions plus ongoing strategy work rather than unlimited availability.
Would I Do It Again
I renewed 100x Engine for a second year, which is the only answer that counts.
The decision took a week. What settled it was not the follower count. It was that inbound enquiries started arriving from people who had never met me, which had not happened once in fourteen years.
More honestly: I knew what happens if I stop. I tested that before joining. Inconsistency, then drift, then nothing.

Who Should Actually Work With Him
Worth it if:
- You have expertise that took years to build
- You can post two to three times a week even in bad weeks
- You are prepared for direct feedback that will occasionally sting
- You are thinking in years
Not worth it if:
- You are early in your career and still forming a point of view
- You want someone to do it for you
- You need results inside ninety days
- The fee would strain you
On That Thing I Said Earlier
I mentioned I half believe some people are naturals and I am not one.
Twelve months later I still think that is partly true. There are members who took to this faster than I did and always will. What I got wrong was assuming that meant the rest of us could not do it at all.
What actually happened is that I got competent at something I had no aptitude for, slowly, by being told specifically what was wrong and fixing it. That is not a transformation story. It is just what instruction does when it is specific enough and someone is checking your work.
If you are hoping to find out whether you are secretly a natural, that is the wrong reason to join. If you want to become adequate at something that matters to your business and are willing to be bad at it publicly for a while first, 100x Engine does that part well.
